Gabór Mate - The importance of living authentically

Are we breaking down to break through? We live on an increasingly polarised planet and traditional economic, political and social structures are becoming more obviously unfit for purpose. It can feel a time of chaos and uncertainty.
However, extremes can be useful and necessary. Someone once said that rock bottom is a great place to push off from, and I've seen that to be true both in my own life and in those of my clients. When the unthinkable happens we're finally able and motivated to take a step that we may otherwise not have been prepared to take, or even acknowledge, before.
Discomfort can also provide a short cut to authentic communication. After all, when are you most likely to speak the pure unvarnished truth as you see it? Probably when you're tired, stressed, fed up, overwhelmed or in pain. Times when you simply haven't got the energy to care about the consequences or to maintain a facade of 'being fine'.
Celebrity culture and social media have encouraged an increasingly false sense of identity and connection, yet at the same time the veil is being pulled back to show the reality of spin doctors, fake news and media manipulation. Authenticity has never been more valued by those who are awakening - and rightly so.
As Gabor Maté argues in the video above, one of the many prices we pay for not being true to ourselves can be physical. Your soul knows your divine blueprint and it is that which is trying to express through you. Every time we allow social and family conditioning to distort the natural flow of light through ourselves, our mental and physical processes are weakened.
Anita Moorjani, who healed from end-stage cancer, summed it up in her book Dying to Be Me. Being 'nice' took her to the brink of death - and deciding to be authentic brought her back.
So if you've got problems, ask yourself how much you're in alignment with your true self in that area of your life. You may need to make big decisions or have courageous conversations, but at least you'll be living fully.

 Our joints can be a fascinating, and sometimes painful, reflection of how flexible we are and how heavy our burdens can feel. Sometimes they're the first to deliver the message that we're going in the wrong direction, that we're stuck or we need to soften and change the way we're thinking - and they may also be a way our body forces us to rest and reflect:)
Discomfort in elbows, knees, ankles, back and wrists all carry their own significance - I can recommend Inna Segal's book The Secret Language of your Body as a very useful reference.
Emotional patterning often holds particular physical problems in place, so, while treating things physically is important, self enquiry is always key to get to the root of it. If joints are bothering you, you might consider Flexibility & Tolerance essence or Get Unstuck - Move Forward & Blossom as well as taking time to focus on the uncomfortable area of the body while asking what feelings are held there.
You might also consider myo-fascial release massage which takes into account the fact that our feelings can make us tighten up and guard against further hurt, whether emotional or physical, and that can cause great physical discomfort. A good myo-fascial release therapist will help you to unravel the physical tightness and release the emotion behind it. Here's an international directory of therapists.
 Lean on Nature: On that note of feeling safe enough to let go of a restriction, the energy of far infra red and the magnetic field of the Earth is also an easy way to reconnect with source energy and let go of the discomfort. This is easily done by attaching magnets using far infra red DUK tape or slipping them inside far infra red joint wraps that Nikken produces.
I always turn to magnets under tape or inside wraps when an area needs some tender loving care. I find it takes the edge off the discomfort within 15 minutes and means I don't need to take drugs.
