We're in a time when certain structures in our life and society are dissolving so we can learn from the past that created them and rebuild them afresh from a new value system.
This seeming chaos can spark fear and panic yet any artist will tell you that it's in the heart of chaos that we're able to see things in an entirely new way.
Chaos can feed fear but, if we allow that to dissolve and get comfortable with it, it can also feed our imagination and our evolution.
This issue offers ways to explore our inner sacred space and to use chaos creatively to grow and change.

From Tired to Rejuvenated - Bach to Basics |
|
Are you tired or low in energy?
If you're familiar with the Bach remedies you may automatically reach for Olive when you're tired because it's the obvious remedy for exhaustion.
However I'd encourage you to ask yourself a few questions to see if there's one that's more appropriate. Such as:
- Is your tiredness mental or physical?
- Are you actually emotionally drained?
- Are you disconnected from the earth - your source of strength?
- Or from the present - your source of power?
- Or from your spirit - your source of purpose and enthusiasm?
Here are some suggestions if you've uncovered a different type of tiredness:
Hornbeam - is what I think of as the 'blah' remedy. You feel bored and jaded. Life's a to-do list and you can barely be bothered to read it. Each day feels the same as the day before and there's little to look forward to.
You may feel you don't have the strength needed to complete all the tasks in front of you, yet somehow you do. There's often a temptation to use caffeine and sugar to give yourself energy to get through the day.
This state is usually a result of too much mental activity that isn't being balanced with physical movement. So it's common if we're convalescing or studying hard or if we simply take in too much information and end up with mental fatigue and indigestion. Too much screen time is a classic cause.
It can also feel that everyone wants a piece of you and you're too weary to cope with it all.
Another reason can be that you internalised an over-serious, dutiful attitude when young that precludes spontaneous activity and fun as an adult.
You may have rigid ideas about what you like and what you don't like, so you rarely come at something with a fresh attitude or challenge yourself to be creative and be a beginner at something new.
As you take Hornbeam you'll begin to balance times of work and times of relaxation. This will allow fresh thoughts and ideas to arise and jolt you out of a mental rut. As it gets to work you'll begin to follow impulses to enjoy yourself in new ways and come back to work refreshed and easily able to find creative solutions.
Wild Rose - is an essence that's useful when tiredness is actually a sense of inner emptiness. We have no energy to draw upon because there's nothing there. We might cover up this painful void by being over-busy and super competent. We may take on a lot of responsibility and don't really know how to have fun.
The lack of energy in the Wild Rose state comes from a sense of resignation that we have no power over our lives. Life may be very unsatisfactory but we just accept our fate with indifference. This lack of motivation to change comes from abandonment very early in life. It's common in babies who had to go straight into incubators or who had a difficult birth.
If we cried and cried and nobody came we come to believe that we don't matter, that we can't be seen or heard when we're in need. This is the pain in the emptiness and you may sometimes be aware of a deep sadness without knowing its source.
As you take Wild Rose you allow yourself to connect with the present moment which is the source of your power. Instead of feeling as if you're drifting through life, you're able to put your hands on the steering wheel and direct your ship with a sense of enthusiasm at what awaits.
Clematis - If your low energy feels like you've been slightly anaesthetised or numbed, then consider Clematis. You may be pale, with cold hands and feet and a rather floaty feeling because you're not sufficiently connected to your physical body.
Dr Bach described Clematis as a 'polite form of suicide' because when we need it, we're really not that bothered about being here and are happy to retreat into the rich world of our imagination or sleep a lot.
If we get sick we may not make much effort to get better and may be oblivious to pain.
Because we're not in our body it means we can be clumsy and get lost easily, as we often wander around in a bit of a trance. Our life and personal space can also be rather chaotic.
This state is also a common reaction to shock, when we can leave our bodies in order to cope. This is why Clematis is part of Revival Remedy. (Known as Rescue Remedy in the original range). It brings us back to earth and wakes us up,
