Have you got a 'bad back'? One of the most common areas for us to store emotional stress as physical tension is in our pelvis. This can lead to tight hamstrings, calf muscles and glutes, which in turn means our lower back becomes compressed and tight. Exercises such as yoga, pilates and tai chi offer ways to open up and stretch these areas which, if you do them regularly, are great for backache. 

However, there are days when we know we're going to be sitting longer than we want to or we'll be standing still for long periods. I would never attempt a long car journey without tucking my Nikken magflex into my waistband. It's often referred to as a back flex but many people use it for period cramps and indigestion.
