The Wounded Masculine
It's not a coincidence that the national flower of Ukraine is the sunflower, the cultivation of which also contributes hugely to its economy.
Sunflower essence is one i often prescribe because it helps to heal our unbalanced masculine energy - something that the Earth herself is trying to do right now.
Signs of a wounded masculine aspect include either being overly aggressive, dominant and bullying or being too modest and retiring, due to low self-worth. Many of us flip between the two extremes or at times we put on a confident face while feeling like a fraud because, despite our bravado, deep inside we feel insecure.
This pattern usually stems from a difficult relationship with your father figure and this may also include God or the Divine - whatever you perceive that to be. Since many of us were brought up with the idea of 'God the father', we often project our feelings about masculine energy onto God. Can he be relied upon? Is he there for us? Is he judgemental and punishing or forgiving and compassionate, no matter what we do?
Part of my training in vibrational medicine was about bringing the inner masculine and feminine into balance. We used to tune into them regularly to see how they were getting on. So much of our inner conflict is due to those parts of ourselves being at war within us.
As that inner war unfolds we externalise it in the world, which means that everything we do to bring awareness, acceptance and peace to our inner world will help humanity to tip the balance into greater harmony.

From Over-enthusiasm to Tolerance - Bach to Basics |
|
Do you feel restless and find it hard to sleep? Do you have great dreams and feel impatient and frustrated at how long it takes to achieve them? Do you keep plugging away long after everyone else has given up or gone home? Are you so attached to what you're doing that you over-ride your need for rest or nurture?
There are times when we know what we want (what we really really want:) but we use excessive energy trying to make it happen.
Of course without this potential for crusading zeal humanity may not have had the benefit of groundbreaking discoveries and breathtaking art. Marie Curie died of the effects of radium exposure for example, and Dr Bach gave up a lucrative Harley Street practice to pursue the Bach remedies and died with hardly a penny to his name.
But although most of us aren't aiming to go down in the history books as a result of immense personal sacrifice, we all benefit at times from a need to slow down and pace ourselves. It's not only hard for others to be around us when we're over-excited, desperate to convince them of the benefit of a particular idea, product, cause or course of action, it's also hard on our body. Indeed our impatience and tunnel vision can mean that we easily knock things over and injure ourselves and if we keep our foot on the accelerator for too long we'll inevitably hit burnout.
When we're hyperactive we lose not only perspective but also our connection with our natural cycle of activity and rest. We may lie in bed unable to sleep because we're going over what we plan to do the next day or worrying about we've left undone in the day just gone. Our body may be signalling to us with headaches, high blood pressure, tics and jaw pain that we're putting too great a strain on our nervous system.
The other feature of this state is our conviction that we're right. For example we judge certain food and drink as good or bad, or we think only one political or spiritual viewpoint is correct. Our body language will tend to show us this rigid way of thinking by giving us a stiff neck, arthritis, carpal tunnel or problems with our hearing and vision.
When you notice yourself moving into this state, reach for Vervain and you'll find your enthusiasm is still there but it's more reasonable in its demands on you and those around you. You can be kinder to yourself and others while still pursuing your goals. Your mind and heart will open and you'll be more tolerant and able to see that what may be right for you, may not suit everyone. Your previously black and white world is allowed to have shades of grey. Your body and joints will soften, your muscles will relax and you'll be less irritable and more pleasant to be around. You're still on track - just remembering to smell the roses along the way.

How to Feel Good Vibrations |

We’re living on a planet that’s literally vibrating with opportunities for close encounters of fascinating kinds, yet often our eyes are glued to a screen and buds in our ears block out the natural – and supernatural – world.
