Releasing the Past
This issue encompasses Remembrance Sunday. It's a time when some of us feel the impact of wartime experiences in our family line particularly strongly. It may show up as a cough or other problem with our lungs, which is where we hold grief in our body, or a feeling of anxiety, guilt, tension or deep sorrow.
Wartime events often echo down the generations asking to be seen, heard and resolved. If you suspect this is happening in your life I can recommend Family Constellations as a way of identifying and releasing ancestral trauma. Bach to Basics - From Dark Clouds to Sunny Moods |
|
Does a dark cloud sometimes descend on you for no reason? Do you feel a deep melancholy that often moves you to tears? Are you feeling sluggish and exhausted?
This indifference to life can arrive out of nowhere. Your motivation departs and you just can't be bothered to move. Trying to figure out why you feel this way is pointless because there's no obvious cause.
Those of us who suffer these bouts of melancholy are often empathic, sensitive and highly creative people. Although it can be difficult to live through, when the clouds descend it often heralds a major breakthrough. Poets, musicians and writers often produce their most significant work as they try to express and transform this intense emotion.
When we feel like this we often have an aversion to light and want to lie in the dark which is an expression of feeling that we're cut off from the light. Our sense of humour has departed and no matter how much we might want to hide how we're feeling from others, the weight of our grief makes it impossible.
Professionally I find clients who are suffering like this will find a way through it more easily if, with the help of essences, they can accept the feelings and express them. That may be through acting, flower arranging, pottery, singing or any medium that allows them to see the beauty they may be blind to within themselves reflected in the outside world.
The signature disconnection from light means that this state can occur more often in the darker months so even on cloudy days, getting outside to expose our head and crown chakra to the sun's rays is important.
I also notice melancholy can creep up around Remembrance Day on 11th November. It's a time when humanity as a whole recalls the loss and suffering of war, and I often prescribe Mustard to those who tend to transmute emotion that's in our collective field.
It may also not be a coincidence that Bach discovered his remedies between the two World Wars and mustard gas injured more than 1.3 million people and killed 90,000 in the first world war. My grandfather was one of them - although thankfully he survived - but I always have Mustard remedy to hand in November. It can be worth checking your ancestral war records to see if you're carrying cell memories of this.
Luckily the cheery bright yellow Mustard flower shines like a light at the end of the tunnel. As it begins to work it will restore your spirits, gradually lightening your mood until you feel able to smile again and come back to life with a rich appreciation of even the smallest everyday events. The deepening and humbling effect of the Mustard state means you'll find greater love and compassion for yourself and others. A heart that's been opened and softened through suffering, can hold even more emotional understanding than before.
