In so many ways humanity has been doing this to the body of Mother Earth, causing dis-ease to the point where it's almost impossible for her to regain her balance and still support life.
Now a virus is forcing us to put clear boundaries around our lives, to limit contact, to limit pollution, to limit travel, to limit consumption, to source local suppliers so that we limit our global impact and become more focused on the health of our immediate community, especially those who are vulnerable.
Hopefully more of us will see that it's time to stop using constant outward growth and expansion as a measure of success and see that it's the inner growth of our heart and soul that actually matters. It's time to prioritise the quality of our life rather the quantity of our possessions. A healthy economic model is sustainable and offers support for all members of society.
Mother Earth has her own ways of bringing herself back into balance. Rather like our own bodies which begin by excreting toxins via our skin in the form of a warning rash, it's now escalated to far more drastic measures to survive such relentless exploitation and abuse.
Those of us who are aware, who know we chose to be here at this time, need to step up now as never before.
